The Museum of Imagination was opened on 23.5.2001.
The 4000 square meter building, which houses the Buchheim Collection (Expressionist artists such as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Max Pechstein), is modeled after a ship. The museum is one of the“MuSeenLandschaft Expressionismus“.
The museum owes its changing exhibitions to the director Daniel J. Schreiber, who always knows how to offer a varied program. The surrounding park with its beautiful old trees invites you to linger and marvel. Many sculptures, including a helicopter, can be inspected in passing. The trip there is rounded off with a visit to Cafe Buffi and the museum store.
